Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. ~ John 12:24-25
The Legacy Project
The Legacy Project is an effort to create an experience of care, empowerment, and hope around the occurrence of church closure and congregational decline. All things, including our faith institutions, have a life cycle that will include an ending, but the reality of that end can be too difficult or painful for those in the midst of it to recognize or know how to manage. The Legacy Project seeks to work with churches before they are at a crisis point of closure to walk alongside them at this stage of life, offering a care-filled process of
- honoring the church’s past
- empowering its current body in deep discipleship, and
- creating hope for the future through a designated legacy ministry of the church.
To do this, The Legacy Project works with churches in two stages: discerning where in their life cycle they may be, and, as appropriate, working together with a congregation to bring about a final completion of their church’s ministry that is both honored and fruitful.
